Cologne is an easy gift for men

With the holidays quickly approaching, men’s cologne is a quick and easy gift for any of the men in your life. As a female, I love the way men’s cologne smells. Different colognes remind me of different people.
In the right environment, a great smelling (and not overbearing) cologne can only enhance your appeal.

There are so many colognes to pick from when choosing gifts that it’s hard to know where to start.

According to About.com the top selling men’s colognes are:

1. John Varvatos
3. L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme
4. Black Code by Giorgio Armani
5. Acqua Di Gio Pour Homme by Giorgio Armani
6. Aqva Pour Homme by Bvlgari
7. Sean John Unforgivable
8. Clean Men
9. Hugo by Hugo Boss
10.Touch For Men by Burberry

Some other popular and classic choices for men include:

Mambo by Liz Claiborne
Cool Water by Davidoff
Eternity by Calvin Klein
HUGO by Hugo Boss
CHAPS by Ralph Lauren
DRAKKAR NOIR by Guy Laroche
POLO by Ralph Lauren
Curve by Liz Claiborne

It’s really up to you and the person you intend to give the gift to.

Braun 360 Complete Men’s Shaver

Buying any man in your life a gift always seems to be a challenge. For women, you can always fall back on lotion or beauty products, but what great gift can you get a man that he will actually use and be thankful for? My go-to gift has always been a great razor or cologne but after seeing the amount of colognes my brother has and does not use, I figure a razor is a much more practical gift.

I’ve seen some great reviews for the Braun 8995 360 Complete Men’s Shaver. I think this will definitely make it on my Christmas list.

Braun states that it “provides Braun’s closest, most complete shave ever. Braun’s patented Power-Comb lifts problem hairs that lie flat to the skin to avoid missed hairs in hard to shave areas. The unique SmartFoil pattern captures hairs growing in different directions.”

Expo member bk0 seemed to really like the razor, pointing out it’s quality in sharpness and how well it works.

9 Eyeliner’s NOT to buy

I definitely go through my share of eyeliner. It’s one of those items I just feel naked without. Right now I’m pretty attached to my MAC Powerpoint Eye Pencil. It glides on easily and is the perfect width to achieve the desired look. My only complaint is it might leave you with raccoon eye in the morning.

Total Beauty
featured a list of the top 9 Eyeliners NOT to buy which includes:

1. Jane Endless Eye Liquid Eye Liner, $3.49
2. Lola Liquid Eyeliner, $20
3. Physicians Formula Eye Definer Automatic Eye Pencil, $5.50
4. Guerlain ‘Divinora’ Eye Liner, $32
5. CARGO Eye Pencil, $14
6. L’Oreal Paris Micro Liner Ultra Fine Lining Pencil, $8.49
7. LORAC Front Of The Line Waterproof Eyeliner, $20
8. Revlon Bedroom Eyes Powder Liner, $9.95
9. Stila Kajal Eye Liner, $16.50

I personally have tried the Revlon Bedroom Eyes Powder Liner and agree that it is pretty horrible. It’s messy and hard to use. You end up with powder all over yourself and NOT prettily framing your eyes.

Fake Eyelashes

With Halloween quickly approaching, it’s time to decide on what to be this year. One beauty feature that can help glam up any outfit to full Halloween potential are fake eyelashes. I’ve tried (and failed) at applying them once, but am determined to succeed this Halloween season! I started off with some basic drugstore brands but have friends who swear by the M.A.C. brand.

To perfect the look try following these directions found at E How

Step 1
Decide what look you’re seeking. A full set of false eyelashes adds high drama to your evening appearance or returns the eyelashes that may have disappeared due to illness. Little clumps of fake lashes on the outside corners of your eyes create a subtle, sophisticated glamour.

Step 2
Choose a color that complements the occasion. For evening, stick to black (or dark brown if you have pale lashes), which adds drama without requiring mascara. In the daytime, go dark brown (light brown or blond if you have pale lashes) for a natural look.

Step 3
Check their length. Full lashes should follow the natural line of your own lashes. Trim them with sharp scissors to accommodate your needs.

Step 4
Begin with clean eyes, free of makeup or debris.

Step 5
Hold the lashes in your hand and apply a very thin line of glue or adhesive along the base; let it sit for 1 minute. Begin with a minimal amount of glue, adding more if needed.

Step 6
Look into a mirror, either on the wall or placed on a countertop. Apply the false lashes above your eyelashes, as close to your lash line as possible, following its natural curve.

Step 7
Adjust the lashes with your fingertips, tweezers or a toothpick.

Step 8
If you’re using lash clumps, place them at the outside corners of your upper lashes (one or two per eye should suffice). Adjust their position with a toothpick, fingers or tweezers.

Step 9
Apply eye makeup. You may find your new lashes dramatic enough without mascara, so take a good look in the mirror first.

Good luck! It takes some practice, but they really do enhance your eyes and are totally worth it. Let us know what products you find that work best.
