Makeup: The Toxic 12 List

The Toxic 12 List has been released to let women know what chemicals to scan for in the ingredients of their makeup. They are composed of harmful chemicals that can either trigger unwanted allergies, irritation or even long term lung disease. Former Miss America-turned-beauty activist Susan Jeske had promoted this Toxic 12 List that women should take note of. Some of these are found in common cosmetics and aesthetic products that can induce harm when used too frequently.

    TOXIC 12 LIST

1. Benzoyl peroxide
2. DEA (diethanolamine) and MEA (monoethanolamine) and TEA (triethanolamine)
3. Dioxin
4. DMDM hydantoin and imidazolidinyl urea
5. Synthetic colors and pigments
6. Parabens (methyl, butyl, ethyl, propyl)
7. FEG (polyethylene glycol)
8. Phthalates 9xenoestrogens)
9. Propylene glycol and butylene glycol
10. Sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate
11. Sunscreen chemicals like avobensone, benzphenone and PABA

The 5 Factor Diet

Another day, another fad diet. Today’s diet is the 5 Factor Diet This is one you may have seen in many publications like US magazine because of the many celebrities that seem to follow this regime. The man behind this plan is Harley Pasternak. Harley is responsible for getting many of Hollywood’s most recognized celebrities into the best shape of their lives, from Jessica Simpson to Kanye West and Eva Mendes to John Mayer.

According to the source: The 5-Factor Diet was originally created for celebrities. Harley was challenged to create brief (yet incredibly effective) workouts for actors, while training them during their short breaks on movie sets. In addition, he needed to create healthy meals in a matter of minutes (literally), using simple ingredients (the fewer the better) that could fit in the mini fridge on a set. Harley’s clients were eating five times a day, cutting the length of their workouts, and transforming their bodies!

For more detailed information on the Diet check out the website.

Getting in Shape with your Wii and Jillian Michaels

If anyone can get you in shape, it’s Jillian Michaels. Not only does she have rock hard abs and can scare you into running a mile or 10, she also knows a thing or two about weight loss. That is why, if you are using the Wii to get fit, I would guess any program approved by Jillian Michaels has to have some benefit to your weight loss goals. The Biggest Loser trainer teamed up with Nintendo to create her workout for Wii Fit called Jillian Michaels’ Fitness Ultimatum 2009 ($37).

She’s targeting kids by making the game fun and interactive, complete with cool graphics, but it’s something the whole family can use. Jillian says eventually you can burn 300 to 400 calories an hour doing things like kickboxing, running, and squats.
