Lashstash Mascara Deluxe Sampler

Sephora put their favorite, most wanted mascaras in one box—so you get a full fringe for one pretty price. It’s currently only $39

Seeing as I usually pay about $18 -$22 for my favorite mascaras this would be a great deal to try a bunch of different kinds without having to commit to buying a whole one at full price and then hating it.

The kit includes:
- 0.1 oz Anastasia Lash Lifting Mascara
- 0.1 oz Tarte Lights Camera Lashes
- 0.1 oz Sephora Atomic Volume Mascara
- 0.24 oz Stila Multi Effect Mascara
- 0.14 oz Benefit Bad Gal Mini
- 0.2 oz Bare Escentuals Buxom Lash
- 0.13 oz Too Faced Mini Lash Injection Pin Point
- 0.12 oz Smashbox Bionic
- 0.07 oz Lancome Cils Booster

My Perfect Mascara

As a girl, I love makeup and pledge allegiance to some of my favorite products. While I AM attached to some products, I am always on the lookout for something even better. I was pretty attached to Benefit’s Bad Gal Mascara for the past year or 2 but my impulse purchase this week has brought a new AMAZING product to my attention and I am now head over heels in love.

“Bare Escentuals Buxom® Lash Mascara - Blackest Black holds the style of your lashes for a continuous 12 hours with no flakiness. The silky, vitamin-rich formula darkens, lengthens, and thickens from root to tip without ever clumping. Its patented, hourglass-shaped brush is designed to lift and separate every lash while delivering the perfect amount of antioxidant-rich mascara needed for bigger, fuller lashes.”

Basically it has made my lashes longer than I have ever seen them before with a border line “fake lash look” but in a good way. There is no spider look and massive clumping. Just long lashes for days. I recommend!

Beauty products to get you through tough times

Because of the current state of the economy, it seems like we are all making changes in our spending habits whether it be in our holiday spending or in our beauty routines.

I personally am trying to stretch out a much need hair cut as long as possible, skipping manicures/pedicures, accepting my pale complexion, and searching for cheaper products that still work great.

Instead of hitting the salon for a complete hair coloring, you might want to just touch up those roots with an in store dye. Nice& Easy by Clairol offers a a relatively inexpensive root touch up option. SweetMeg14 says “I love this stuff….it lets you stretch out your time between salon visits so it saves lots of money!”

You can give in and do your own nails! I know the idea might seem scary to some of you but there are some great all inclusive manicure kits that help simplify the process. Ilovegabby1128 recommends the Sally Henson French Manicure kit:

For the fair complexioned that can’t afford the tanning bed at the moment, try a home self tanner that will give you a bronze glow.
2005chk recommends Sally Henson Airbrush Face Tanner for the “no streak” look:

Fake Eyelashes

With Halloween quickly approaching, it’s time to decide on what to be this year. One beauty feature that can help glam up any outfit to full Halloween potential are fake eyelashes. I’ve tried (and failed) at applying them once, but am determined to succeed this Halloween season! I started off with some basic drugstore brands but have friends who swear by the M.A.C. brand.

To perfect the look try following these directions found at E How

Step 1
Decide what look you’re seeking. A full set of false eyelashes adds high drama to your evening appearance or returns the eyelashes that may have disappeared due to illness. Little clumps of fake lashes on the outside corners of your eyes create a subtle, sophisticated glamour.

Step 2
Choose a color that complements the occasion. For evening, stick to black (or dark brown if you have pale lashes), which adds drama without requiring mascara. In the daytime, go dark brown (light brown or blond if you have pale lashes) for a natural look.

Step 3
Check their length. Full lashes should follow the natural line of your own lashes. Trim them with sharp scissors to accommodate your needs.

Step 4
Begin with clean eyes, free of makeup or debris.

Step 5
Hold the lashes in your hand and apply a very thin line of glue or adhesive along the base; let it sit for 1 minute. Begin with a minimal amount of glue, adding more if needed.

Step 6
Look into a mirror, either on the wall or placed on a countertop. Apply the false lashes above your eyelashes, as close to your lash line as possible, following its natural curve.

Step 7
Adjust the lashes with your fingertips, tweezers or a toothpick.

Step 8
If you’re using lash clumps, place them at the outside corners of your upper lashes (one or two per eye should suffice). Adjust their position with a toothpick, fingers or tweezers.

Step 9
Apply eye makeup. You may find your new lashes dramatic enough without mascara, so take a good look in the mirror first.

Good luck! It takes some practice, but they really do enhance your eyes and are totally worth it. Let us know what products you find that work best.

Looking Good While Flying

As I prepare to hop on a flight tomorrow, I wonder what TSA-friendly beauty products others take with them in their carry-on.

Personally I find Rosebud Salve to be indispensable. I mostly use it as a lip balm, but it can also be used to soothe dry or irritated skin - a common airline traveler’s malady. It comes in a cute tin that won’t raise a red flag with airport security and is way less than the 3oz you are allowed per liquid item. Not sure if this technically qualifies as a liquid, but better safe than sorry when it comes to dealing with the TSA!

What are your favorite under-3-oz items you can’t fly without?

A Solution for Contact Lenses

Contact lens wearers know that a good saline solution is important for keeping your lenses clean and your eyes healthy. I have been using Alcon saline solutions for nearly twenty years now and I was happy when they came out with their “No Rub” solution a few years back. I don’t buy anything else. No Rub saves you time when you take your contacts out at night - no more using drops of that gritty stuff to gently scour away grime. I use Alcon’s No Rub every night, and my contacts stay nice and clean, without irritating my eyes.
