We just returned from a vacation to Maine! A wonderful destination if you like the beach! While there some visiting friends introduced us to the game of Cornhole. Yes I said Cornhole. Funny name isn’t it? What IS it? Well you can read about it here. Apparently it is pretty huge in the Midwest but being a New Englander I had never heard of it. I actually laughed when I saw it. It is a bean bag toss. Yet when I finally decided to take a turn I discovered it is quite addicting. And challenging. And dare I say, fun? Yes it is fun! We played for a long time and went from dissers to Cornhole fans. So much so my husband is thinking of getting us our very own Cornhole set. So check it out if you are looking for something new in your backyard this summer!

Summer is here and that means it is getting hot, hot, hot! This is the time of year for Snow Cones! My kids love these and we have tried various products over the years. The ones that you have to crank by hand can be tiresome and take a long time. This is the way to go! Watch as Mamaduck shows you how easy it is to make Snow Cones at home for your family! I am definately going to pick one of these up!

Awhile back I received the Tuscan blend of Sarah’s Sea Salt as a gift from my mom. The stuff smells amazing and tastes even better! I wasn’t exactly sure what to use it on, but recently sprinkled it over some zucchini brushed with olive oil, and grilled it. The zucchini tasted incredible with this blend of sea salt and Italian flavors like rosemary and lemon. Now that grilling season is here, I highly recommend picking up a canister of this herb and spice blend and using it on some of your own veggies. There are a few other blends too - Mediterranean, Provencal, Caribbean, and Gulf of Mexico. You can find Sarah’s Sea Salt online at Amazon.com, King Arthur Flour, Coastal Goods, and more.

Summer is here! The end of the school year, vacations, the beach, parties and fun in the sun! Here is a video that shows a great and easy cupcake for your summer party! The kids are sure to love it and it would be a hit at any summer time party! I am planning to make some for my kids when we are on our annual Maine beach vacation! It is even simple enough that you can let the kids help out and decorate them too!

I just moved into a new apartment with a backyard and garden…very exciting for someone living in Brooklyn! My boyfriend just received a nifty gardening gift pack for his birthday. It includes three garden tools, pockets, and a little folding seat which totally came in handy while pulling out weeds! This little kit is gonna get a whole lot of use at our house this summer. I recommend picking up something similar if you plan on doing any garden work.

I just moved into a new apartment and tossed out my crusty old toaster during the packing process. On a post-move, “OMG let’s buy ALL NEW STUFF!” trip to Target, this shiny red Oster Toaster caught my eye and I had to have it. It was even on sale - $24.99 down from $29.99! I like this toaster because it has slots wide enough for bagels, and I am one of those people who has to have a bagel for breakfast every day. I don’t have the tolerance for toasters that can’t handle a big ol’ bagel. It even has a bagel button! To be honest I’m not sure yet how the “bagel” button differs from the “toast” button…but it’s a neat feature I suppose.

Not to mention how cool this little appliance looks on my new kitchen counter. Just looking at it makes me smile - it looks way better in person than online.
