Carcinogen Found in KFC’s New Grilled Chicken

June 25th, 2009

According to the Physician’s Committee of Responsible Medicine, the carcinogenic, PhIP, was found in KFC’s new grilled chicken which has grabbed so much attention lately. PCRM sampled the chicken at multiple locations. PhIP, part of a chemical family known as heterocyclic amines (HCAs), has been linked to several forms of cancer, including breast cancer, in dozens of scientific studies. PhIP and other HCAs do not exist naturally in chicken; they form when animal muscle is cooked to high temperatures.
